Marshland’s brand new school located within Preston’s subdivision was officially opened by the Honourable Hekia Parata on the 12th February 2016.
The school caters for students aged from 5 to 13 year olds (Years 1 – 8) and is organised into 5 Learning Hubs: Pukeko Nest (New Entrants), Pukeko (Years 1 and 2), Tui (Year 3 and 4), Korimako (Years 5 and 6) and Toroa (Years 7 and 8). The school’s roll is currently 335 and will grow to 400 by the end of the year.
Principal Jacqui Pascoe said the children and parents are loving their new environment which has been designed to combine the lovely country feel of the old Marshland School with a futures focused curriculum that will prepare children to thrive in a constantly changing unknown future. Each hub is purpose built with learning nooks that allow children to work independently, in pairs, small groups, or as a whole hub.
