Posted on 18 April 2018

A small blessing and sod turning was undertaken on the new PGG Wrightson Seeds Ltd site in Lincoln on Monday 16 April 2018.  This ceremony was held to bless the site before construction commences.

This development will provide a quality administration office for PGG Wrightson Seeds within the Lincoln Hub. Ngāi Tahu Property are pleased to have worked with AgResearch and PGG Wrightson Seeds in providing a fantastic location for this development.

Ngāi Tahu Property have engaged Hanham and Philp as the Main Contractor, with demolition and construction commencing this week. The office will be built over the next 12-14 months.

The blessing, led by Kai Karakia Te Mairiki Williams, Ngāti Moke, NgāiTahu was attended by local Mana Whenua (Ngāi Tahu from the Leeston area), staff from Ngāi Tahu Property, PGG Wrightson Seeds and AgResearch.

Kai Karakia, Te Mairiki Williams commenced the blessing with a karakia, to help protect the site and all those involved in the redevelopment. This was followed by a walk though of the site, and the cutting of the sod by Dean Christie, Ngāi Tahu Property, Development Manager. The sod was then turned by John McKenzie Group General Manager – Seed and Grain, PGG Wrightson Seeds. The sod was then transferred into a box which will be kept by Ngāi Tahu Property during construction before being returned and incorporated into the development site on completion of the project.

The ceremony closed with the waiata - He Hōnore.
