What's in a name?

The name TE KŌRURE was gifted to the development by mana whenua, Ngāi Tūāhuriri.

Meaning ‘to change direction’, the name reflects the historical trails and seasonal migrations of Ngāi Tūāhuriri across the region. The word 'kōrure' also signifies change more broadly, giving the name a dual meaning that encompasses both the movement of people and the environmental transformations experienced by Kā Pākihi Whakatekateka a Waitaha (the Canterbury Plains) over time.
